Where can I find construction plans for the Berlin Hudson Rail Trail?
Currently, there are no plans to build the section through Berlin and Hudson. This page was set up to share info as it develops in the Berlin and Hudson area, as well as info on other sections of the trail that are currently being developed.
Can volunteers work on building the trail?
No. The property is owned by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) and leased to the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR). Per the terms of the lease, the town must submit a Construction Access Permit and a design proposal to the DCR for review, revision and approval by the DCR, the MBTA and the Mass Historical Commission.
What if the towns decide not to build this section of the MCRT?
The DCR can construct a trail without input or approval from the towns if funds become available to them.
